Getting That Pink Kit Sorted
Alright, so let’s talk about this pink football kit thing. It wasn’t for a pro team or anything fancy, just for our weekend kickabout group. Most of the lads wanted the usual blue or red, you know, proper football colours. But I had this idea, why not pink? Just for a laugh, something totally different. Took some convincing, I tell ya. Lots of moaning about looking silly.
First hurdle was actually finding someone to make ’em. Called up a few local places that do team kits. Most just had the standard stuff in their catalogues. Red, blue, white, black, green. You ask for pink, they look at you funny. Found one online place eventually, seemed okay, willing to do custom colours even for a small order like ours, maybe 15 kits.
Choosing the shade was next. Honestly, who knew there were so many pinks? We spent a good hour arguing over colour swatches on a screen. Ended up going for a really bright, almost neon pink. Go big or go home, right? Then we had to sort the design. Just simple black numbers on the back and our silly team name ‘The Flamingos’ (seemed fitting now) on the front. Sent off the details, paid the money, and then just had to wait.
The waiting part is always rubbish. You start thinking, ‘Did I pick the right size for everyone? Is that online place legit? Are they gonna turn up looking like pyjamas?’. Took about three weeks, longer than they said, typical.
Finally, the box arrived. Opened it up… and they were actually decent! The material felt okay, not top-tier Premier League stuff, obviously, but good enough for us amateurs crashing about a muddy field. The colour was definitely… LOUD. Proper bright pink.

Took them down to the pitch the next Sunday. The reaction was priceless. A lot of laughing, yeah, but mostly good-natured. Even the grumpy ones who complained the most cracked a smile. We definitely stood out. Got some funny looks from the team we were playing against, like ‘Who are these clowns?’.
Did we play any better? Nah, probably not. Might have even played worse ’cause we were laughing too much at the start. But it was fun. Broke the routine. Sometimes doing something a bit daft like getting bright pink football kits is just what you need. It’s just a game, after all. Made for a good story, anyway. Still got mine hanging up, reminds me not to take things too seriously.
