Okay, so I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and today I finally got around to documenting my golf bag setup, inspired by Lee Hodges’ WITB. It’s nothing fancy, but it works for me, and maybe it’ll give you some ideas, too.

The Driver Decision
First things first, I started with the driver. I used to have an older model, but I recently switched to something with a bit more forgiveness. It’s not a top-of-the-line, brand-new driver, but it’s definitely an upgrade.
Fairway Woods and Hybrids
Next, I moved on to fairway woods.I’ve got a 3-wood that I can usually hit pretty well, and I added a 5-wood for those longer shots from the fairway or rough. I’ve also got a hybrid in there – a 4-hybrid – which is my go-to club for tricky situations. It’s much easier for me to hit than a long iron.
Ironing Out the Details
For irons, I went with a pretty standard set, from 5-iron down to pitching wedge. These are nothing to shout my voice, they are my old clubs, they do the job fine.
Wedges and Putting
- I then checked my wedges.
- I have a gap wedge, a sand wedge, and a lob wedge.
- These are crucial for those short-game shots around the green. Getting the right lofts on these was key, so I spent some time making sure they were gapped correctly.
And finally, the putter. This is probably the club I’ve changed the most over the years. Today I put my old putter, I am more confident with it.
The Whole Bag
So, that’s pretty much it! Nothing too crazy or technical. I just tried to put together a set of clubs that I feel comfortable with and that covers most of the shots I’ll face on the course. Hope this was in some way helpful. Feel free to share your bag, too!
