61 Farrell, James T. Autographed letter signed by James T. Farrell, March 1962.

8pp. Written on standard notebook paper to Prof. Miriam Heffernan of Brooklyn College w/little regard to legibility. Farrell discloses a uniqueness in one of the stories in his When Boyhood Dreams Come True. He goes on about Edgar Lee Masters & Lindsay, about Masters, & then conducts a reverie of nearly 50 possibilities that Heffernan can investigate for further info on Lindsay. Written at age 58, the letter reveals Farrell's wide acquaintance w/his contemporaries, even to identifying repositories of papers for those who had pre-deceased him. An extremely open & giving letter wherein one author talks freely & generously about another. Heffernan (d. 2000) wrote her doctoral paper on Lindsay in 1949. In orig. mailing envelope; w/Farrell's signature across the Beaux-Arts Hotel return address. (4468681617)
