Now, let me tell ya something, folks. If you think a golfer’s gotta be tall to make it big, well, you’re in for a surprise. There’s this fella by the name of Tadd Fujikawa, and let me tell you, he’s as short as a fence post! Tadd stands at just 5 feet 1 inch, and believe it or not, he’s made his mark on the PGA Tour, even though he’s the shortest player on the whole list of professionals. Some folks might say you gotta be tall and strong to play that game, but Tadd’s proved ’em all wrong.

Tadd Fujikawa: The Shortest Player Ever to Compete on the PGA Tour

Back in 2006, he made history by becoming the youngest ever to qualify for the US Open. That’s right, folks. At just 15 years old, Tadd was out there, facing off with the big boys, showing the world that size ain’t everything. And let me tell ya, he didn’t just show up—he played hard. He’s won a few times, too, even though he ain’t the tallest out there. What’s more, he turned pro in 2007, and since then, he’s racked up a good number of wins. Size don’t stop this fella one bit!

Now, Tadd’s not the only short one on the PGA Tour, no sir. There’s another fella named Brian Harman, and he’s only 5 feet 7 inches tall. Now, that’s still shorter than most of the fellas you see out there, but let me tell ya, Brian’s had a mighty fine career. He’s got three wins under his belt and, to top it all off, he won the 2023 Open Championship. Ain’t that something? He’s steady, he’s consistent, and he’s proven that even shorter fellas can stand tall when it counts. So, just goes to show ya, being a little shorter ain’t a bad thing in golf. In fact, some say it might even be an advantage when it comes to control and precision.

The thing is, folks, the average height of players on the PGA Tour is usually around 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch. That’s a good bit taller than Tadd and Brian, so when folks see them on the course, they might think they don’t belong. But let me tell ya, they do. And they’ve shown it time and again. Just because you ain’t the tallest don’t mean you can’t hit a golf ball just as far or just as good as the next fella.

Now, I’m sure you’re wondering about all them big-name golfers, like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and the likes. They’re all up there with the big ol’ height, but even they know that sometimes, it ain’t all about how tall you are. Take Jim Furyk, for instance. He’s a tall fella, but he’s not as tall as some of ‘em out there, and yet he shot a 59 once. That’s right, he hit a score of 59 in a tournament, which is mighty impressive, no matter how tall you are.

And let me tell ya something else, folks. The way these fellas play, it don’t matter if they’re short or tall, fat or thin. What matters is how much they put into it. And short players, they’ve gotta work even harder sometimes. They gotta put their heads down, focus, and find their own ways to make it work. It ain’t easy, but if you got the drive, the heart, and the right attitude, there’s nothin’ stoppin’ ya.

There’s another short golfer, Zac Blair, standing at just 5 feet 9 inches, and he’s out there doin’ his thing too. Now, he might not be as short as Tadd or Brian, but let me tell ya, this fella’s got a game on him. He’s known for bein’ real precise and methodical with his play. And folks, that’s what matters in golf—being able to think through every swing, every shot. Even the shortest of players can make it work if they got the smarts and the will.

And don’t forget about Dan Pohl, another short player who averaged a mighty 274 yards per drive back in 1980. That’s a good distance, no matter who you are. These short golfers, they show that with the right skills and a little bit of heart, you don’t gotta be tall to hit the ball far.

So, folks, next time you’re out there watchin’ a golf tournament, don’t let their height fool ya. Short or tall, fat or thin, what matters is how they play that game. Tadd Fujikawa, Brian Harman, and all the other short golfers out there—they’ve proved that size don’t matter when you got the skills and the determination to make it big. And if you ask me, that’s a mighty fine lesson for all of us.
