Okay, so the other day I got this idea in my head, I really wanted to find some cool Nick Saban merchandise. You know, the legendary coach. I figured it would be pretty easy, but it turned into a bit of a hunt.
First thing I did, obviously, was jump online. Just typed “Nick Saban merchandise” into the search bar to see what popped up. Lots of stuff came back, mostly Alabama Crimson Tide gear, which makes sense. You see tons of jerseys, hats, t-shirts with the team logo and sometimes Saban’s name mentioned alongside it, especially on commemorative items for championships.
But I was looking for something maybe a bit more focused just on Saban, if that makes sense? Not just generic team stuff. So, I started digging deeper.
Digging Through the Options
I spent a good while clicking through different websites. Some were big sports retailers, others were smaller fan shops, and then you have the auction sites too.
- Apparel: Plenty of t-shirts, hoodies. Some had his famous quotes, which I thought was kinda neat. Found a few caricature-style shirts too.
- Collectibles: This is where it got interesting. Signed footballs, photos, helmets popped up, but man, those can get pricey fast. Definitely more for the serious collector.
- Novelty Items: Bobbleheads seem to be a popular thing. Also saw mugs, plaques, and even some framed pictures featuring him.
I noticed a lot of the stuff is tied directly to Alabama football. It’s hard to find things that are only about Saban without the Crimson Tide branding heavily involved. Which, again, makes total sense given his career there.
One thing I found tricky was figuring out what was officially licensed versus what was just fan-made stuff. Some designs looked cool but you wonder about the quality or if it’s legit. I tried sticking to more reputable-looking sellers or official university stores when possible.
I even thought about maybe checking out stores physically, like around Tuscaloosa if I ever made a trip, but for now, it was strictly an online search mission from my couch.
What I Ended Up Doing
After looking around for maybe an hour or so, comparing different shirts and checking out some of the collectible photos (mostly just window shopping on the expensive stuff!), I settled on a couple of things.
I didn’t go for anything too crazy. Found a pretty decent t-shirt with one of his well-known sayings on it. It felt like a good nod to his coaching philosophy. Also saw a cool looking commemorative coin from one of the championship years that featured him, so I bookmarked that to think about later.
So yeah, that was my little adventure trying to track down some Nick Saban gear. Started simple, got a bit more involved, but ended up finding some things I liked. It’s mostly team-focused stuff out there, but if you look, you can find items specifically celebrating the coach himself.
