Amongst the 1st five issues most of the bottom margins repaired, sometimes allowing intelligent guessing through the mending. Approx. 18 issues. V.g., rest w/defects as described. Rich on post bellum recriminations & second guessing. Contemporary events incl. Freedman's Bureau, contention on sequence of discharge (white volunteers before the black volunteers), rebels in Mexico, Indian engagements, etc. Works out to less than twelve dollars per issue, especially because a single issue (only) offered at one hundred (9/14).
