"Souvenir Rose." Finely engraved view sheet by Adler of Hamburg, Germany.

W/orig. envelope. Incls a copy of ptd hand lists. Each "rose blossoms from a cone about 6" high to form a circle w/eight segments on each side. The opened "rose" recto & verso are of course adjacent to one another, leaving six non-rose segments on the recto & eight on the verso. Each of these 14 segments has two steel engraved views. This bouquet of roses reflects Italy. Adler's work extended beyond Italy; however, a Xerox list notes nearly 100 titles. Because the roses have die-cut designs between segments, they are so very fragile as to justify the word "scarce". The absence of any U.S. exemplars from the Winterthur collection supports the scarcity of this highly ephemeral treasure. Very free from foxing. (3698421324)

These are dated 1830, about sharing property of John le Huray; 1817, Brouard deeds to le Lachew; & 1864, substitute trustee for lands of Martha Simon. English summaries accompany these. The 1817 deed is parchment w/wax seal (12 x 24”). The 1830 document was rebacked c.1900, but is intact. The two 1864 documents w/some foxing but v.g. England. France. Travel. (4349071203)
