Koch family correspondence. Davenport, IA c.1915 Approx. 35 letters (c.1920's), 12 identified C.D.V. (c.1880), 5 other pictures, & some misc. papers. Mr. & Mrs. G. H. Koch, 1811 Pershing Ave., Davenport, IA had at least three children, Walter, H. J., & Margherita. Walter attended high school in Davenport, active in sports (two complete Spalding Basketball score books present) & played football at Univ. of WI. He served in World War I, stationed at Camp Hancock, GA, as a physical training instructor. While his sister seems to have settled in Wakefield, MA, Walter moved from job to job. Possibly a traveling salesman: Baltimore, Phila., Jacksonville, Indianapolis, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and eventually in 1926 meeting & marring Katherine White of Chicago. Miss White is extremely well represented in the correspondence, accounting for 20 of the letters: parents sent six; sister, three; & rest are brother & misc. A nice look at post WWI activities of a sturdy, well educated ex-soldier. Also incl. is Marghi's college graduation book. Genealogy. (4398389241) Price:
